Darren Luke is the owner and operator of Hard Rock Earthmoving and Contracting Ltd, a well established construction contractor specialising in ground engagement and civil works.
Darren was born and bred in Wellington. His father was an electrician, and Darren became a familiar sight on building sites around Wellington helping his father while still at school.
He tried panel beating but the lure of the construction industry soon claimed him back in that sector, building houses in Johnsonville. His love of machinery and the bigger equipment associated with ground works led him into that speciality area, where he has now worked for over 30 years.
Hard Rock has invested in modern machinery. They own all their machinery and equipment covering a wide range of service deliveries to their clients, many of whom are development infrastructure companies and organisations. He also has a team of competent operators to call on to progress jobs quickly and efficiently, ensuring complete customer satisfaction.
In recent years, Darren has worked with the Wellington and Hutt City Councils, KiwiRail, the New Zealand Transit Authority, and the Ministry of Education as well as many private developers.
